ABC has a depth of experience in PC board assembly. An ABC customer has laser etched bar code on PC boards. The light to dark ratio of the bar code is not ideal for high density bar code patterns. The boards are moving on an automated track in the manufacturing process. Scansmart provided the ideal solution, a high density fixed mount scanner reads the bar code while the board travels at a high rate of speed to the next step in the manufacturing process. The bar code is read several times during the assembly process, and the bar code is verified by the scanner. Bar code information is used to track each board through the manufacturing process.
Car rental agencies like Budget, Avis, Hertz, and Alamo have used ABC's knowledge to
provide rental car security at the airport terminals. When a vehicle exits from the terminal, a guard reads an ID bar code on each car. The terminal location, time and date is recorded at the time of the read. The agencies have drivers who move the cars from terminal to terminal and to their home base to balance inventory with demand. Each driver has an ID badge with a bar code. when the driver is moving a car the ID badge on the car is read, the driver's ID badge is read, and the destination is keyed into the scanner. Each day the scanners are downloaded into a computer, providing the agency with a complete record of all car movements, driver ID, and data. This application records and reports on over 100,000 transactions per month.
