The
PDT 8000 from Symbol Technologies is a compact, ergonomic Pocket PC mobile
computing device with integrated wireless communications and bar code data
capture. Created to meet the needs of mobile workers, the PDT 8000 is rugged
enough for use anywhere along the supply chain, and provides the speed, power
and functionality needed to effectively manage data at the point of activity.

The
PDT 8000 features the Intel® XScale™ processor and the
Microsoft® Pocket PC operating system. This combination, plus the
custom Symbol ASIC, enables the PDT 8000 to deliver the high performance, low
power consumption and fast throughput business applications demand. Flexible
memory options, a crisp, color VGA display—the largest available in this product
class — and a host of enhanced multimedia capabilities provide the capacity for
advanced mobile solutions and application flexibility.
The PDT 8000 offers Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), Wireless Wide Area
Network (WWAN) specifically GPRS and dual-mode GPRS/WLAN options, or Wireless
Personal Area Network (WPAN) communication options, enabling the delivery of
information when and where it's needed—whether it's checking on an order while
at a customer site or downloading route data prior to driver departure. And,
with its integrated bar code scanner, touch-screen and 23-key keypad, the PDT
8000 facilitates convenient data management for any job, which translates into
increased accuracy and enhanced productivity.
