Alien offers a line of battery-powered backscatter tags, that are designed to log data outside of a reader's presence. However, the tags do not transmit RF energy until signaled by a RFID reader. Each Alien RFID Tag is powered by its own battery supporting years of operation and storage of up to 4 Kbytes of information, including data acquired from local sensors.

Alien BAP tags have been developed for enhanced sensitivity and orientation insensitivity, as well as the ability to be used in environments encompassing liquids and metals. They are designed to interface easily with various sensors including temperature, humidity, shock, vibration and tamper detection sensors.
