- Supported in Palm Tungsten, Zire and SmartPhone devices running Palm OS v4.1 or later. Support in Palm-based SmartPhones will be available in Q4, 2003 and may vary by brand.
- Automatically decodes the most popular bar code symbologies including UPC/EAN, Code 39, Code 128, Interleaved 2 of 5, MSI/Plessey, and Codabar. Other symbologies can be enabled by user with SocketScan Symbology selector.
- Class 1 LED light source poses no safety or health hazards
- Socket 's SocketScan software for Palm and Windows converts scanned bar code characters into virtual keystrokes so that any Palm or Windows application treats the characters as though they were typed on a keyboard.

- SocketScan SDK for both Palm and Windows CE available for developers who wish to control the scanner and resulting data from within their application.
- This Battery Friendly solution draws only a few milliamps of current in standby mode, extending the battery life of your Pocket PC

ISC SDIO Compatibility Issues
The following are known compatibility issues for SDIO slots on specific brands/models of mobile devices.
1. SD/SDIO Device in Slot Draws Power While Pocket PC Is Turned Off
Affected Pocket PCs:
HP iPAQ h1900 series
HP iPAQ h2200 series
HP iPAQ h5100 series
HP iPAQ h5400 series
HP iPAQ h5500 series
ViewSonic V37
Description: When the above Pocket PCs are suspended (turned off), the SDIO slot continues to draw power from the Pocket PC's main battery whenever an SD or SDIO card is inserted. If an SD or SDIO card is left in the SD Card slot for an extended period of time, this can result in a complete depletion of battery power and a cold reboot of the device. This applies to all SD or SDIO cards from Socket and all other manufacturers.
Workaround: If you are using an SD/SDIO card with any of the Pocket PCs listed above, Socket strongly recommends that you completely REMOVE the card from the Pocket PC whenever the card is not in use.
Socket is working with the Pocket PC manufacturers to resolve this issue. Please check the this page and FAQ’s for updates.
2. The Socket SDIO In-Hand Scan Card will not initialize at all or will not initialize after a Suspend/Resume or Soft Reset.
Affected Pocket PCs:
HP iPAQ h1900 series – Card may not initialize
HP iPAQ h2200 series – Card will not initialize
HP iPAQ h5100 series – Card initializes only every other insertion
HP iPAQ h5400 series - Card initializes only every other insertion
HP iPAQ h5500 series - Card initializes only every other insertion
Resolution (Varies by model): HP has provided revised .dll files that must replace the same files included in the device factory ROM. Socket continues to work with HP on the remaining issues. Please check this page and FAQ’s for updates.
